Sydney’s Pop up Kitten Cafe
Sydney’s Pop up Kitten Cafe
This week saw the launch of Sydney’s second pop-up kitten cafe in the heart of the CBD. Held at Gaffa Galleries on Clarence Street, felines mixed with arty types, and a surprise guest!
Animal Behaviourist, Dr Jo Righetti, was on hand for pet advice for those who are considering homing a kitten, and I was privileged enough to hold the now famous kitten Betty, who at only a few weeks has already starred on TV‘s Studio 10.
This highly anticipated event was sponsored this time by PURINA Australia, which have come on board as a partner of the event, providing accessories to make the kittens extra comfortable.
Cat cafes are places where patrons pay an hourly tariff to enjoy the comforts and delights of a cafe in the company of cats. Traditionally the cats are the permanent residents of the cafe, however the vision for Sydney Cat Cafe is to foster cats that are up for adoption by patrons.
Sydney Cat Café, Maggie’s Rescue and PURINA Australia bring back Sydney’s cutest pop up
The kittens, from Maggies Rescue, come in all shapes and sizes and each has a detailed profile on the wall, so you could read about the characteristics and temperament of each kitten. Volunteers were on hand to offer extra advice for finding the purrfect kitty of your choice.
The second installment, held from August 6 – 8 and 13 – 15, will admit 20 people over the age of eight at a time for 45 minute cuddle sessions with adorable kittens.
Having achieved 120% of its Kickstarter Crowdfunding campaign, SCC is set to become a permanent fixture in Sydney later this year.
Despite being very tiny, many of the kittens had very big personalities, and were not afraid to sit on peoples’ laps and be petted for long periods of time. I was so distracted by the cute factor I couldn’t even finish my carrot cupcake!
If you are thinking of opening your home to a furrever friend this is a great place to come to experience what it would be like to have a pet full time.
