The good news is that more and more establishments are finally catching on to the fact that pet owners want to take their animals to more places than just the off-leash park.
Here are some pubs that aren’t just marvellous examples of Sydney boozers. They’re also wonderfully pet-friendly. So grab your pooch and head off to one of these.
Eastern Suburbs
The London
This pub is self-proclaimed as “best dog-friendly pub in Sydney” – and we are inclined to agree. The London is a proper pub packed with atmosphere, great beers and quality food. Check out their instagram page for great deals and cute doggie photos.
85 Underwood St, Cnr William St, Paddington 2021

The Inner West
The Courthouse
This popular pub with a great vibe has a special section where dogs are allowed, but be careful of people forgetting to close the gate! “The Courty” as it is affectionately known by the locals, has a great range of beers and a massive beer garden. Get there early to secure your spot!
202 Australia Street, Newtown 2042
Cricketers Arms
Ever since The London stopped welcoming dogs, Poppi has been on the search for a dog-friendly pub in Balmain. She wasn’t disappointed with this one. Pets are welcome in the public bar of the refurbished hotel.
255 Darling St, Balmain 2041
The Duck Inn Chippendale
This dog-friendly pub even has a local cat that chills out in the garden and at the bar. Friday night Meat Raffles raises money for Delta Society Australia which helps dogs help people!
74 Rose Street, Chippendale 2008

Petersham Public House
Dogs are always welcome in the beer garden as long as they are on a leash and don’t upset Gizmo the pub cat. Enjoy rustic bar food and craft beers on tap, and go along to one of their special dog nights that are held throughout the year.
