Geelong Dog Photographer Represents in Prestigious Tails of the World Project

Caitlin J. McColl, a Geelong-based photographer from Ragamuffin Pet Photography, is seeking local dogs to be featured in the 2024 edition of the Tails of the World photography book.

This annual publication showcases moving stories and portraits of dogs, captured by a global network of 95 professional photographers. All proceeds from the book support animal rescue initiatives, and the project has already raised over AU$150,000. “It’s the first time Geelong is being featured in the book,” McColl shares. “I’m excited to highlight the charm of our region!”

Raising funds for a good cause

Local dog owners who want to be part of this meaningful project are encouraged to apply. The photoshoot donations will benefit the Geelong Animal Welfare Society (GAWS), a non-profit organization focused on caring for lost, unwanted, abused, and injured animals in Geelong and nearby areas. GAWS, the third largest shelter in Victoria, has the highest adoption rate and operates entirely on donations.

  • Ten local dogs will be photographed by Ragamuffin Pet Photography and included in Tails of the World: Volume Three.
  • Photoshoot spots are limited and require a $100 donation to GAWS. Applications are open until August 11th.
  • Dogs of all sizes, ages, breeds, and training levels are welcome—there’s no need for them to be “perfect models,” just their natural selves!
  • The project features dog photoshoots from cities and towns across 18 participating countries, including Australia, Belgium, Brazil, and Canada.
  • Caitlin J. McColl founded the Tails of the World Collective in 2015 with the goal of bringing together pet photographers worldwide to support animal charities through stunning photography and touching stories.

“Our Collective has raised over $150,000 for animal charities globally,” McColl notes. “Our books span diverse locations—from Tails of the Netherlands to Tails of Melbourne. The annual Tails of the World Book is a collaborative effort, and we’re excited to use our photography to help animals in need.”
