Dog-Friendly Camping in Queensland
If you love the great outdoors, then you will agree that camping with your dog is an unforgettable experience.
You and your best mate have heaps of space to roam and explore. There are numerous places to stay with your dog in Queensland. Here is a list from Cooktown to the southeast of Brisbane. Take your pick of some of the best dog-friendly campsites Queensland has to offer.
Adel Grove Camping Park
Enjoy incredible landscapes at this outback oasis. Adel Grove Camping Park is located 10km from the Lawn Hill Gorge, Boodjamulla National Park, pets are allowed in some of the Bushranger accommodation, as well as in the Top Camping area (only) – no pets are allowed to camp in ‘The Grove’. Dogs are permitted anywhere throughout the grounds as long as they are kept on a leash at all times and their droppings are picked up. However, they are not permitted in any of the buildings. A very pet-friendly park, located 1 hour north of Cairns and 15 minutes away from Port Douglas. The units are quite protected and many people use the covered area as an extended living area when staying – it is preferred that larger pets stay here. Please bring a litter tray for cats. Mossman Leisure Park

Virgin Rock Rest Area
So-called because the Rock once looked like the Virgin Mary cradling the baby Jesus. The rest area is about 2 km north of Springsure or about 64 km south of Emerald. Facilities include male and female amenities, a BBQ hotplate, covered picnic table and rubbish bins. Pets welcome.

Stanage Bay Campground
If you’re looking for remote bush camping on QLD’s Central Coast stay at Stanage Bay Campground. Located north of Rockhampton on the Bruce Highway, turn east and be prepared to drive another 100 km of dirt road.
Most campsites at Stanage Bay are pet friendly and allow campfires. Freshwater can be obtained by donation bring your own. There are no showers or washing machines.

Carmila Beach Rest Area
This free (and popular) beachside camping area allows dogs, though they should be kept on a leash. There are toilets with disabled access and BBQ area, but no showers. Be sure to bring your own drinking water.

Red Rock Campground
Dogs are welcome at Red Rock Campground in the Byfield State Forest and must be kept on a lead at all times. M.V. Sarawak Camping Area
This dog-friendly campsite is one of five camping areas on the Inskip Peninsular about 15 minutes drive from Rainbow Bay.
Dogs are welcome but you must secure a camping permit and pay the required fee in person at the Rainbow Beach Office (8 am – 4 pm daily).

Located 50 minutes from the Gold Coast and a 1 hour and 15-minute drive from Brisbane, this campsite is set in a beautiful location with grassy camping spots, near to a creek and you can buy firewood here. Flinders Beach Campground
If you love camping on the beach with your dog, it doesn’t get much better than Flinders Beach. There are twelve beachfront camping areas along the beachfront accessible only by 4WD from the beach, or by bush tracks. Main Beach
For a ‘back to basics’ camping experience, Main Beach stretches for 32kms along the eastern side of the island. There are fifteen designated camping areas at the southern end of Main Beach, which offers great surfing and excellent beach fishing. This is a prime location for more experienced campers and 4WDrivers, and campsites are only accessible by 4WD. There are no amenities or drinking water at Main Beach. Dogs are welcome but must be on a lead and under control at all times. 2 dogs maximum per campsite applies.

This pet-friendly campsite located on the shores of Lake Moogerah is a perfect venue for all! Camp Moogerah can accommodate up to 257 people just in the cabins. There is also the option of camping in tents and caravans on our range of campgrounds making it the ideal venue for school camps, youth groups or family functions offering waterfront bunk bed cabins, facilities and outdoor activities on beautiful Lake Moogerah. Darlington Park Camping Area
This popular shady campsite welcomes dogs and is located 95KM south of Brisbane. It can get busy so it is best to book ahead during peak time. There is a kiosk, children’s playground and flushing toilets. Follow the signposted access on Kerry Road, 25 km south of Beaudesert. Bookings are recommended for peak periods.

Rose City Caravan Park
This small park has accommodation to suit all budgets with clean and well-maintained facilities to ensure you have the perfect overnight stay. There are fully self-contained, air-conditioned cabins, which sleep up to six or choose to stay in one of the comfortable budget priced overnight caravans. The park welcomes all pets, including cats, birds, reptiles and rodents. As long as they are contained when not inside the pet-friendly cabins or in the traveller’s van, motorhome.
